In a world where pony cars are turning into track toys, it’s awesome to see that Dodge is still sticking with the old muscle car doctrine.

Bugatti: With the Chiron, we have created the most powerful road car available today. We went as far as we could. Anything beyond this point would be stupid and dangerous for a street legal vehicle.
Dodge: Hold my beer.

I’m excited that they are making more versions so Hellcats don’t stay halo status and depreciate.

I’m conflicted. One on hand, crazy powerful muscle car. On the other hand, FCA could use the money they use to develop stuff like this or the Hellcat to actually TRY and make good regular cars for once. Maybe.

The way I see it is that it will likely replace the Mustang as the car that drives through the crowds at Cars & Coffee events. Just being honest.

I dont understand it. It’s what just a hell cat with less weight and a smidgen more power?? Why not just call it the new hell cat? I’d be more excited for a lighter more fun lower trim. Or a smaller rwd coupe with 4's and 6's to slot below the challenger.

I’m excited. Dodge is one of the few American car companies out there that still embrace old school automotive traditions. Little-ish car, heavy as heck, but paired to monster power...all for a low price. Mmmmmmm. They don’t care about beating the world, they care about having fun and appealing to emotions.
Such a shame they’re connected to FCA, they could be so great if they didn’t have to be tied to FCA’s pathetic shenanigans.

Hellcat are expensive. No way a bro is getting hold of one as easily as he can a Mustang GT.

I don’t know why they are bothering with it. They already have a muscle coupe with the V6. Only an idiot would waste thier money and buy anything more.

Just give it time. It scares the hell out of me when I look at some of the goobs at our C&C events driving Vipers, Maserati, Porsche and Ferrari. Plus you don’t need to be able to afford these cars before you get access to one. Was just in the news this week where a 24 y.o. car salesman in Colorado died in Maserati. Experience matters when it comes to high horsepower. Just look at all the people who wrecked Hellcats in the first week they owned them. We had a Corvette Z06 at work being repaired last summer that was wrecked with under 1k miles and needed over $15k in repairs. I was surprised the guy got it under control enough not to total it. I can predict that the first week the Demon is available somebody will total one.

I’m with you, it would have been cool to use the Demon name for a high powered brz competitor. Smaller RWD, but still higher HP. It’s kind of a waste of the Demon name.
I mean let’s be honest. We’re pretty much to the point where go *shrug* another crazy high horsepower limited production run mopar on the same aging and oversized platform. OK

There’s no need to drive a Hellcat anymore.
Ever since Dodge started calling thier AWD V6 Challenger “The worlds first AWD
Muscle
Sedan,” there’s no need to waste your money to get a real muscle.

I can’t not love the Challenger, it’s just cool. It doesn’t pretend to compete with the Camaro or Mustang, it’s just a car you point at the horizon and firewall it.

If they had updated the styling from 2008 maybe. I agree it will make power and quick and be the ultimate muscle car but why? This is the problem I have with the hellcats. To me I would rather build my own car from ground up and make 700+ horsepower because its easy to make power. Slap a big Turbo a 4.8L LS V8 and you can make 1200hp . Now getting it to handle is another thing.
Though I would be interested if they updated it a bit to this, because damn it looks good. 71 Challenger but updated with current Challenger bits

Nobody needs a Hellcat and I wouldn’t call them a waste of money either. But I wouldn’t go so far to say that a V6 AWD Challenger is a muscle car... It’s a marketable compromise.
Plus, it’s missing two things.

a new badge, less weight and a smidge more power.. BUT THE MARKING POTENTIAL IS THROUGH THE ROOF! and hey maybe at least it will force the depreciation on a hell cat a bit faster. after all who wants a hellcat when it’s not even the most power muscle car. pft...
